Questions to practise
Can you tell me a little about yourself and the work you have done?
They want to know your background and if you have done similar work before.
Keep it short. Say what jobs you have done, such as factory, kitchen, warehouse or cleaning work. Say one thing you learned, for example working carefully, following rules or working in a team.
What do you do before you start work on the line?
Hygiene keeps food safe. They need to know you follow the rules every time.
Name real steps in order. For example: I take off my jewellery, I wash my hands, I put on my hairnet and my clean clothes. Say you do this every time, not only when someone is watching.
Why are hygiene rules so important in food production?
They want to see that you understand the reason for the rules, not only the rules.
Say simply that dirty hands, hair or jewellery can get into the food. This can make people sick. Add that you follow the rules because the customer will eat the food.
Our line moves fast. How do you keep up?
The line does not stop for one person. They need a steady, careful worker.
Say you keep a steady pace and stay focused. Say you learn the task well first, then get faster. Add that you do not rush so much that you make mistakes.
What would you do if you fell behind on the line?
They want to know you will speak up, not hide the problem or skip checks.
Say you tell the line leader or supervisor at once. Explain that it is better to ask for help early than let products go past without checks. Give a short example if you have one.
What do you check for when you look at the products?
Quality checks stop bad products from reaching customers.
Name real things: seals, labels, dates, weight, and anything in the food that should not be there. If you have done checks before, say what you checked and how often.
What would you do if you found a pack that was not sealed?
They want to see that you act and report problems, not ignore them.
Say you take the pack off the line and tell your supervisor. If you see the same problem again and again, say you would report it, because the machine may need checking.
Can you tell me about a time you found a mistake at work?
A real example shows how you act in real life.
Use three short parts: what happened, what you did, and the result. For example: I saw a wrong label, I told my supervisor, and we fixed the batch. A simple example is fine.
Which shifts can you work?
Factories work early, late and some weekends. They need to plan the team.
Be clear and honest. Say which shifts and days you can work. If there are times you cannot work, say so simply.
How do you stay careful and focused on a long shift?
Mistakes happen more when people are tired. They want someone reliable all shift.
Give practical ideas: use your breaks, drink water, keep a steady pace and keep doing every check carefully until the end of the shift.
Before I start, I wash my hands and put on my hairnet.

Lines to try
Before I start, I wash my hands and put on my hairnet.
I always take off my jewellery before I go onto the floor.
If the line is too fast, I tell my supervisor at once.
If a pack is not sealed, I take it off and report it.
I can work early and late shifts. I am free on these days: ___.
Can you say that again more slowly, please?
Common questions
I have not worked in a food factory. What can I say?
Talk about similar work, like a kitchen, warehouse, cleaning or any job with rules and routines. Say what you learned, such as working carefully, following safety rules or working in a team. Show that you are ready to learn the factory's hygiene and quality rules.
My English is not perfect. Is that a problem?
Short, clear sentences are fine. The supervisor wants to know you can follow instructions and speak up about problems. If you do not understand a question, ask politely: Can you say that again, please? Practising your key answers out loud before the interview can help you feel calmer.
What should I do if I do not know the answer?
Be honest. You can say: I have not done that before, but this is what I would do. Then give simple steps, like stopping and asking your supervisor. This answer shows you will ask for help and not guess.
