Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of Hangar, a general-wellness practice tool distributed through the Apple App Store.
Available on the App Store · last updated 2026-09-06.
1. About these terms
Hangar (the “App”) is provided by KindAbilities (“we”, “us”, “our”). These Terms of Use, together with our Privacy Policy, govern your use of the App. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
The App is licensed, not sold. Because Hangar is distributed through the Apple App Store, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement also applies. These terms supplement it; Apple’s Standard EULA governs matters it covers if there is a conflict.
About the 1.3 update. Hangar 1.2 is available on the App Store. The 1.3 update is still being tested and has not been released. Sections marked “1.3 update” describe behavior in that update and apply when you have that version.
2. Not medical or professional advice
Hangar is designed as a general-wellness and practice tool. It is not therapy, not a medical device, and is not a substitute for professional advice, diagnosis, or care. Always seek the guidance of a qualified clinician, educator, or counsellor for medical or behavioural concerns. If you may be in crisis, see the resources on our Support page or call your local emergency number.
3. Who can use Hangar
Hangar is designed primarily for teens, roughly ages 13–17, with parent or guardian involvement. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf and supervise your use.
4. Your licence to use the App
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Hangar on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as Apple’s Standard EULA and these terms permit. Do not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, rent, sell, sublicense, redistribute, unlawfully use, or interfere with the App except where applicable law expressly allows it.
5. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation
Hangar is free to download and use. The free plan includes three flights each week, every authored rehearsal, and every safety feature. Hangar Premium is an optional auto-renewable subscription that lifts the weekly limit. The App Store shows your current local price and any eligible trial before you confirm. No safety feature is placed behind the paywall.
- Billing. Apple charges your Apple Account when you confirm a purchase.
- Auto-renewal. A subscription renews at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Trials. If Apple shows an eligible trial, it converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before it ends.
- Manage or cancel. Use device Settings or Apple’s subscription-management page. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Premium continues through the paid period.
- Refunds. Apple handles purchases and refund requests at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Restore. Restore an active subscription from Hangar’s paywall on a new device.
Premium also enables saving and updating Tomorrow’s Moment plans. In the 1.3 update, existing saved plans remain available to read and share after Premium ends; new saves and updates require Premium. Existing rehearsal histories and carry cards remain available after the free practice allowance is used. Cancelling renewal does not delete local records, and restoring a purchase does not restore practice data stored on another device.
6. Your content and on-device data
Goals, saved Tomorrow’s Moment plans, flights, and the logbook are stored on your device, not our servers. You are responsible for that device and any backups. Audio is held temporarily in memory for on-device transcription and then discarded; it is not saved as a recording or uploaded. Processing already running may retain a cancelled take until it finishes; cancelled or expired results are not used. After the in-app consent step, live-flight authored state and settings, the practice goal, and current and prior turn text pass through our AWS service to OpenAI. Personal details you include in those words travel with them. Service-provider retention, anonymous limits, and content-free diagnostics follow our Privacy Policy.
1.3 update: offline rehearsals save your goal, variation, choices, wording, scene progress, previous and alternative paths, and carry-card lines locally. Saved Tomorrow’s Moment plans are local too. These offline records and plan notes are not sent to our live character service. You decide what to save and what to share through the app’s preview and iOS share controls. Recipients and other apps may retain their own copies.
1.3 update: Settings → Clear my data → Yes — delete everything removes local goals, saved plans, flights, rehearsal histories, carry cards and the logbook. A failed deletion shows a retry message; do not assume data was removed if Hangar reports a failure. Clearing data or deleting the app cannot erase previous exports, recipient-held copies or existing device backups.
7. Acceptable use
Use Hangar for its intended purpose — private, affirming practice. Don’t attempt to use the App to harm yourself or others, to extract or misuse its content, or to circumvent its safety features.
8. Intellectual property
The App and its content — text, scenarios, characters, design, and software — are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws.
9. Disclaimers and liability
The App is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. AI character responses are generated automatically and may be imperfect. Authored and generated practice responses are examples, not predictions about a real person or guarantees of an outcome. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or data-loss damages arising from use of the App. Nothing limits liability that applicable law does not allow us to limit.
10. Apple as a third-party beneficiary
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support beyond obligations in Apple’s Standard EULA and applicable law. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them.
11. Termination
You may stop using and delete Hangar at any time. We may suspend or end your licence if you materially breach these terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, and liability limits, continue after termination.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will revise the date above and post the updated terms here. Continuing to use Hangar after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
