What SpeechSeed is
SpeechSeed is a private practice companion for adult-guided English speech-sound practice — not therapy, a diagnosis, or perfect speech scoring.
It supports practice between appointments. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace a speech-language pathologist.

Start with these four fixes
SpeechSeed cannot hear
Open iOS Settings → Apps → SpeechSeed and allow Microphone and Speech Recognition. Return to the app and try one word while the listening ring is glowing.
A result looks wrong
At word level, recognition listens for the prompted word and common slips. At sound and syllable levels it counts a vocal attempt and asks the grown-up to judge. Use the parent answer whenever the app is unsure.
Premium did not unlock
In the grown-up area, open Settings → Subscription → Restore purchases, using the same Apple Account that bought the plan. SpeechSeed has no separate login.
A report will not share
Create the PDF or text report again, then choose an available destination in the iOS share sheet. SpeechSeed creates the report on the device; the destination app controls what happens after sharing.
What “listening” actually means
At word, phrase and sentence levels, on-device recognition checks for the prompted word and known common slips. Conversation cards then ask for that word in a new sentence or question, without scoring the quality of the whole utterance. At sound and syllable levels, SpeechSeed confirms that a real vocal attempt happened — it does not claim whole-word recognition can score one phoneme, and the grown-up is the referee. Children’s speech can be difficult for any recogniser, so uncertain results go to a grown-up.
Subscriptions and Apple billing
The app loads the exact local price and any trial eligibility from Apple before purchase.
- Purchases are billed by Apple, not through a SpeechSeed web checkout.
- To cancel or change a plan, open iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions → SpeechSeed.
- To request a refund or report a billing problem, use Apple’s Report a Problem.
- Restoring a purchase is free and never creates a second charge.
Privacy and deletion
The app has no account, ads, analytics or audio uploads, and listening happens on the device. A session may keep its first clear or grown-up-confirmed practice clip locally so a family can compare moments over time.
- Delete saved clips in the grown-up area under Settings → Practice clips.
- Deleting SpeechSeed removes its local profiles, practice history and clips from the device.
- A report you chose to share is controlled by the receiving app or person after it leaves SpeechSeed.
Read the Privacy Policy for the complete boundary.
Common questions
Why did SpeechSeed ask a grown-up? Because a careful “I’m not sure” is safer than invented precision. Tap what you heard; the report records the parent’s judgment instead of pretending the recogniser was certain.
Does my child need to read? The app speaks its prompts and uses pictures throughout the practice loop. Grown-up guidance and reports contain text.
Can support recover my practice history? No. Profiles, progress and clips stay on the device and are not held in an account or cloud database. That privacy choice means support cannot see or restore deleted local practice data.
